🏁 Final: NW Golf Report Spring Classic from The Home Course in DuPont, Washington. The 2nd annual playing of the Spring Classic featured a field of men and women with professionals, amateurs, seniors and juniors. 50 players, consisting of past winners of the Oregon Open, NW Open, Washington Amateur, Washington Champion of Champions, WJGA State, WIAA State, Seattle Amateur and many USGA championship appearances, battled blustery, cold conditions over all 18 holes. Players competed for overall titles, division titles and as part of a best ball competition.

Overall Men’s Champion
David Hansen

David Hansen won the men’s overall title with a clean scorecard en route to a 67. Hansen, a professional from Edmonds, Washington representing Boom Sticks Golf Co., competes on the Vancouver Golf Tour in British Columbia, has teed it up on PGA Tour Canada and intends to play Q-School again in 2024.

Echo Falls GC

Sarah Lawrence of Snohomish, Washington, a women’s mid-amateur torched The Home Course with 7 birdies in a round of 66 for the women’s title. Lawrence, the 2023 Washington Mid-Amateur Player of the Year is a past winner of WA Golf’s Champion of Champions and the NWAC collegiate conference championship.

Preview – Field Insight

The 2nd Annual NW Golf Report Spring Classic tees off Saturday, April 6th at The Home Course in DuPont, Washington. NW Golf Report is “One Home for All NW Golf” providing tournament schedules, live scoring links, tournament recaps and more at nwgolfreport.com and NW Golf Report on social media. The Spring Classic brings together a field of men and women consisting of professionals, amateurs, seniors and juniors all competing in gross and net competition over 18 holes of individual stroke play. New to the 2024 tournament is a best-ball competition adding another fun element to track on live scoring throughout the round.

50 players make up the field competing at The Home Course.
-8 professional men
-25 amateur men
-7 junior boys
-4 senior men
-4 women 
-2 junior girls

Playing at 6,500 yards and competing for the Overall Men’s Title are the Pro, Amateur and Junior Boys divisions. At 2023’s inaugural Spring Classic, the first, second and third-place Overall Men’s finishers were all juniors.

The Senior Men’s division is set to play at 6,000 yards with four players in the field. Two of the senior men in the field are paired with their adult sons.

The Overall Women’s Title consists of a field of six players all playing at 5,400 yards.

-Rudy Caparas: PGA Professional at Mill Creek CC. Winner on 2024 Western WA Chapter PGA circuit, Vancouver Golf Tour player, past WIAA 4A High School State champion.

-David Hansen: representing Boom Sticks Golf Co. Playing professional on Vancouver Golf Tour, Monday qualifier for a PGA Tour Canada event, Q-School participant.

Shane Prante: PGA Professional at The Home Course. 2023 Oregon Open champion and 3-time Northwest Open champion.

Cameron Dubos: representing Gold Mountain GC. Winner of amateur division at 2023 NW Golf Report Spring Classic.

-Trevor Frisby: representing Gold Mountain GC. Alum of St. Martin’s University in Lacey and a quarterfinalist in a PNGA Men’s Amateur at the Home Course.

-Broc Johnson: representing Druids Glen GC. Returning from a tournament golf hiatus. Former collegiate teammate of Jon Rahm at Arizona State University. Past U.S. Amateur participant, top 5 finisher in a PAC-12 Conference Championship.

-Sean Kato: representing Bear Creek CC. 2020 Washington Men’s Amateur champion, former U.S. Amateur participant, Oregon State Beavers golf alum. Check out Sean Kato’s profile on the 2024 Tournament Players Spotlight.

Sean Packer: representing NW Golf Report. Past winner WA Golf Champion of Champions, 7-time PNGA Cup team member, 4-time USGA national championship participant. Owner, Founder of NW Golf Report.

Sandy Vaughan: representing West Seattle GC. Past winner of Seattle Amateur and a U.S. Mid-Amateur participant.

Nathan Yocam: representing The Plateau Club. 2022 WJGA State champion and current player on the Western Washington University golf team.

Adrienne Bailey: representing Twin Lakes G&CC. Winner of 2023 NW Golf Report Spring Classic.

-Sarah Lawrence: representing Echo Falls GC. 2023 Washington Women’s Mid-Amateur player of the year. Past winner WA Golf Champion of Champions, NWAC Conference Champion, U.S. Women’s Mid-Amateur participant.

-Isabella Zhu: representing Bellevue GC. 12 years old. WJGA District 2 age division champion.

-Three players are coming up from Oregon to compete. Recently turned professional Montana Frame, a past winner of Salem’s Capitol City Amateur and a champion of the OGA Tour, is representing Santiam GC along with amateur Nick Frith. Sean McMullen, an Idaho Vandals alum, is playing out of Stone Creek GC in Oregon City, Oregon.

-Junior golfer Garric Shirrod of the Yakima Elks GC is traveling west to compete. Shirrod is the recent winner of high school golf’s La Salle East Valley Invitational.

-Will Kwon of Riverbend GC returns to the field. Kwon won the net title at last year’s inaugural playing. Also playing in their 2nd Spring Classic are Milo Stover (junior boys), Sam Shelton (amateur men), Adrienne Bailey (women), Paige Webb (women), Zahn Brooks (amateur men), Ashay Manocha (amateur men), Nathan Yocam (amateur men) and Cameron Dubos (amateur men).

-With Shane Prante of The Home Course in the field, this marks the 2nd consecutive year that a PGA Professional of the hosting course participates in the tournament.

-Tom McMullen and his son, Sean McMullen, along with Brent Johnson and his son, Broc Johnson, are father-son duos in the field. Brothers Charles Liu and William Liu are both playing in the junior division.

-A junior girls division will be contested for the first time. Poppy Leigh and Isabella Zhu both at 12 years of age will also compete for the Overall Women’s title.
