🏁Final: 30th Annual Polar Bear Tournament from The Cedars at Dungeness in Sequim, Washington. More than 90 players were in the field taking advantage of the favorable conditions produced by the Olympic Rain Shadow. 

In the professional division, Charles Lee backed up an opening round of 66 with a final round of 67 on Dungeness’ par-72 layout. Lee’s score of -11 was eight strokes better than professional runner-up Garrett Smithson of The Cedars at Dungeness. Over 36 holes, Lee made 10 birdies and one eagle against only one bogey. Lee, playing out of Seattle’s 5 Iron Golf facility in Seattle, was paired with his father, Yong Lee, in Round 1. Yong Lee made headlines himself in 2022 when he qualified for and played in his 4th U.S. Senior Open.

In the amateur division, Dalton Dean of Everett G&CC defended his 2022 Polar Bear Tournament win. Dalton, who last year won by a whopping 8-strokes, secured a 3-stroke victory in this year’s tournament with rounds of 67-71. Holding the overnight lead, Dean’s final round consisted of a remarkable 16 pars along with one eagle and just a single bogey. In addition to winning the 2022 Polar Bear Tournament, Dean also won the 2022 Saguaro Amateur Series’ Desert Amateur in Arizona. Amateur runner-ups at a 36-hole score of three under par were junior golfer Walker Lamb of The Evergreen Golf Club and Tyler Spalti of Everett G&CC and Bellevue College.

Professionals and amateurs played the same tees in the 30th Annual Polar Bear Tournament.
