University of Washington Men’s Golf qualifying at Aldarra GC
January 24-25, 2023
The University of Washington Men’s Golf team is back on the course and playing qualifying rounds to determine the roster for their upcoming slate of tournaments. Playing at the par-71 Aldarra Golf Club in Sammamish, Washington on Tuesday, January 24th and Wednesday, January 25th Huskies’ senior Petr Hruby posted remarkable rounds of -10, 61 and -13, 58.
Hruby from Pilsen, Czech Republic torched the Tom Fazio designed Aldarra on January 24 with ten birdies in his round of 61. Hruby, currently ranked 192nd in the official World Amateur Golf Rankings, made four birdies in a front nine of 31 and six birdies in a back nine of 30. In Hruby’s Tuesday pairing, a Husky teammate shot 67 and still lost by six shots to Hruby’s outstanding round.
On Wednesday, January 25, Hruby followed up his 61 with an even lower round of 58. Hruby went out on the front nine in 28 and came home on the back nine in 30. Hruby made four consecutive birdies on Holes 2-5 and made nine birdies in a row from Holes 7-15. A bogey five on the par 4 16th stopped the amazing birdie run before Hruby made his 14th and final birdie of the round on Hole 17. Similar to Tuesday’s round, a Husky teammate in Hruby’s pairing shot 65 and lost by seven shots to Hruby’s 58.
Aldarra Golf Club served as the host of the 2022 Pac-12 Men’s Golf Conference Championships and is the only Tom Fazio designed golf course in Washington. The private club opened in 2001 and is considered a very strong test stretching to a maximum length of 6,979 with a course rating of 74.9 and a stout slope of 151. At the 2022 Pac-12 Men’s Golf Championships, only five players broke par for 72 holes with Husky Noah Woolsey winning the conference title at -8 and posting the week’s best score with 65. In June 2022, NW Golf Report shared details of PGA TOUR player Cam Davis posting a -12, 59 at Aldarra.
