Snohomish County Amateur – Final Results

May 28

Johnny Carey won the 2024 Snohomish County Amateur. The 93rd playing of the tournament exclusively for Snohomish County, Washington residents featured rounds at Mill Creek CC, Legion Memorial GC and Everett G&CC. Carey, the runner-up at last week’s Washington Open, birdied the final hole for a one-stroke victory over Palmer Mutcheson.

North Pacific Junior Ladies – WJGA Team Victorious

May 28

The North Pacific Junior Ladies tournament featured top junior girls representing WJGA, Oregon Junior Golf and British Columbia. The team from WJGA lifted the team title over their regional counterparts in the 6 count 5 scoring format. Emerald Valley in Creswell, Oregon hosted the 2024 playing.

In the individual scoring, Niuniu Zhao won the title with scores of 72-75 finishing first in the field of star-studded young players. Zhao adds to her 2024 WJGA Western Open title. In 2022, a young Zhao hosted the NW Golf Report Junior Golf Lesson Tee providing her tips and drills for mastering chip shots.

U.S. Amateur Four-Ball – Foushee and Ziegler Set 36-Hole Scoring Record

May 28

Zach Foushee and Robbie Ziegler, mid-amateur stalwarts in Oregon, teamed up to post a new scoring record at the U.S. Amateur Four-Ball. The 9th playing of the USGA national championship is being contested this year at Philadelphia Cricket Club. The duo of Foushee and Ziegler posted a -16, 126 total over the 36-holes of stroke play qualifying.

U.S. Girls’ Junior and U.S. Junior Amateur Qualifying at Gold Mountain – Results

May 31

2 girls advanced to the 2024 U.S. Girls’ Junior and 4 boys advanced to the 2024 U.S. Junior Amateur on Wednesday at Gold Mountain’s Olympic Course in Bremerton, Washington.

Emma Wong of Bellevue, Washington and Yanling Elaine Liu of Vancouver, B.C. earned co-medalist honors with rounds of -3, 69. The 2024 U.S. Girls’ Junior is July 15 – 20 at El Caballero CC in Tarzana, California.

In the boys’ qualifier, Elliot Hoang of Mercer Island, Washington, Brock Maulding of Lake Tapps, Washington and Walker Lamb of Bothell, Washington all advanced to the 2024 U.S. Junior Amateur at famed Oakland Hills CC in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan. The 2024 national championship will be played July 22 – 27. Medalist honors were earned by Owen Corby of Pittsford, New York.

Senior Washington Open – Results

May 31

Erik Hanson of Sahalee CC, a former Seattle Mariners pitcher, added to his collection of PNW tournament titles with a win at the Senior Washington Open. Staged by Western Washington Chapter PGA, the Senior Washington Open featured 220 players in the field at the Cedars at Dungeness. Hanson posted a 3-day total of -9, 207 for a 2-stroke margin of victory.

U.S. Open Final Qualifying – Tee Times

May 31

Pronghorn’s Nicklaus course in Bend, Oregon hosts U.S. Open Final Qualifying on Monday, June 3. β€œGolf’s Longest Day” features 36 holes of competition on 1 day with players vying for berths into the U.S. Open at Pinehurst No. 2.
