U.S. Women’s Open Qualifying

🏁Final: U.S. Women’s Open Qualifying from Shannopin Country Club in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. 36-hole qualifier staged by the Western Pennsylvania Golf Association featured 54 players competing for two berths into the national championship.

The 2023 U.S. Women’s Open is July 6-9, 2023 at the famed Pebble Beach Golf Links in Pebble Beach, California. This year’s U.S. Women’s Open featured a record 2,107 entrants for the USGA’s 78th playing of the U.S. Women’s Open. This will be Pebble Beach’s first women’s major championship.

Angela Zhang of Bellevue, Washington, the 2022 Washington Junior Golf champion, 2022 Washington Women’s Amateur champion and 2023 Washington Champion of Champions, earned her berth to Pebble Beach on the second hole of a playoff. Zhang, who recently turned 14 years old, posted rounds of 70-73 to finish in a four-way tie for first place.

Zhang, the youngest winner ever of the Washington Women’s Amateur, plays close to home for her next event. Zhang is in the field for the 2023 U.S. Amateur Four-Ball staged at The Home Course in DuPont, Washington beginning on May 13. Zhang is a member of one of the youngest teams in the four-ball field partnering with fellow 14-year-old Alice Ziyi Zhao of California. In April 2023 at the Washington Champion of Champions, Zhang established a new course record at The Home Course with an opening round of 65.
