13th Washington Men’s Mid-Amateur Championship

July 20-21, 2022

šŸFinal: 13th Washington Men’s Mid-Amateur Championship from The Home Course in DuPont, WA. 36-hole WA Golf championship for players over age 25.

Tom Brandes, age 65, captured his third Washington Mid-Am win. Brandes, a PNGA Hall of Famer, shot rounds of 67-71 to match Paul Mitzel of Quincy, WA at the end of regulation. Those scores do not capture the dramatic finish. Mitzel had a two-stroke lead on the final hole and made a par. Brandes holed a 180-yard, 7-iron on The Home Course’s par 4, 18th hole for an eagle! In the playoff, Brandes birdied the first playoff hole to complete his remarkable finish.

Brandes’ flair for the dramatic only adds to his unmatched career record. Among other accomplishments, Brandes is an 11-time WA Golf Senior Men’s Player of the Year.
