🏁Final: 16th Annual Future Champions Golf Tour – National Championship from Pala Mesort Resort in Fallbrook, California and Arrowood GC in Oceanside, California. Major championship on the FCG Tour featured a full field of over 140 junior golfers and more than 25 NW juniors
in the Boys 15-18 division.
Burke McFarland of Auburn, Washington and Meridian Valley CC won the FCG national title after posting a 54-hole total of -2 and winning a playoff. McFarland, a WJGA District 6 player, stroke play runner-up in the 2022 PNGA Junior and 2022 qualifier for the Notah Begay III Junior Golf National Championship, opened with rounds of 70 and 71 to be in the event’s last pairing at Arrowood in the final round.
McFarland posted a wild final round of even par 71 that consisted of 1 eagle, 4 birdies, 4 bogeys and 1 double bogey. In a playoff, McFarland secured the win with a birdie on the 1st playoff hole. The victory comes with perks as McFarland earned exemptions into more FCG Tour events, the 2023 Southwestern Amateur Championship and the 2023 IMG Junior World Championship at Torrey Pines.
Trevor Garus of Boise, Idaho posted a tournament low round of 67, -5 in Round 1 en route to a t3 finish.
