🏁Final: U.S. Open Local Qualifying from Gold Mountain GC in Bremerton, WA. 18-hole qualifier staged by WA Golf. Special day where mini-tour players, club pros, college players, mid-amateur’s, juniors and even local radio contest winners converged to play for spots in final qualifying.

Five spots were available at the Gold Mountain site. Jason Allred, 1997 U.S. Junior Amateur champion who has a career high finish of t3 on the PGA Tour, shot a 66 to lead all players. Allred appeared in the 2016 U.S. Open. Blake Snyder, David Phay and Brian Thornton, three more pros, also advanced. All three pros compete in WWC PGA and PNW PGA events. Johnny Carey is a mid-amateur and the 2021 Seattle Amateur champion.

The long, downhill par 3, 12th hole played as the toughest hole of the day at the Olympic Course. The easiest hole was 6th hole, a par 5, which played under par and surrendered two eagles.

Three more U.S. Open Local Qualifiers are played in the region in the next month. Oregon Golf Club hosts on May 2nd in West Linn, Oregon, Banbury GC hosts on May 9th in Eagle, Idaho and Tumble Creek Club hosts on May 17th in Cle Elum, Washington.
