🏁Final: WJGA Western Open from Capitol City GC in Olympia, Washington. 36-hole junior championship featured over 200 competitors battling cold and windy conditions.
Baylor Larrabee and top boys finishers
Baylor Larrabee of Ferndale, Washington rallied to the top of the boys’ leaderboard with six birdies in the final round. Larrabee posted scores of 71-69 for a one-stroke margin of victory. Larrabee from the class of 2024 is a past qualifier for both the U.S. Junior Amateur and Junior World Golf Championships at Torrey Pines.
Angela Zhang back-to-back WJGA Western Open winner plus top girls finishers
Angela Zhang shot rounds of 68-69 for a 5-stroke win. Zhang, from the class of 2027, also won the WJGA Western Open in 2022. Zhang made 11 birdies and an eagle in 36 holes on her way to the title. Zhang was a prolific winner in 2022 becoming the youngest champion ever of the Washington Women’s Amateur.
12-13 year old division champions
In addition to the more than 140 boys and more than 60 girls playing in the Western Open, WJGA also staged a Junior Western Open at Meadow Park GC in Tacoma, Washington for players under age 13. Division winners included Tristan Kim, Cienna Lee, Trip Steinmetz and Nina Holly.
8-11 year old division champions
