๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ Oregon’s Chad Fribley to play in 2026 U.S. Senior Open after qualifying in PNW

Chad Fribley, the Director of Instruction at Persimmon Country Club in Gresham, Oregon, will showcase his own golf game in the 2026 U.S. Senior Open. Fribley, age 50, has qualified for the U.S. Senior Open Championship in his first attempt and will tee it up July 2-5 at historic Scioto Country Club in Columbus, Ohio. Similar to the new format for the U.S. Amateur, the senior open now also features a two-step process of qualifying with players going thru Local Qualifying and Final Qualifying to advance to the national championship.

Fribley first survived local qualifying at Willamette Valley Country Club in Canby, Oregon, carding a 73 to advance. He then delivered when it mattered most during Final Qualifying at Oakbrook Golf & Country Club in Lakewood, Washington, firing a 3-under-par 68 to claim the final qualifying spot in the championship field. Fribley got off to a dream start by chipping in for eagle on the first hole, then made birdies on #2, #4, and #5 to start -5 through 5 holes.

A native of Tualatin, Oregon, Fribley’s competitive resume also includes five appearances in final U.S. Open qualifying and five attempts at PGA Tour Qualifying Schoolโ€”experiences that helped shape both his game and his approach as an instructor.

Today, Fribley serves as the Director of Instruction at Persimmon Country Club in Gresham, Oregon, where he has earned a reputation as one of the Pacific Northwest’s premier teachers. Before returning to the Northwest, he gained valuable experience working at several renowned golf destinations, including Kapalua Resort in Hawaii, PGA West, and La Quinta Country Club in California.

The 2026 U.S. Senior Open will be contested at historic Scioto Country Club, one of America’s most celebrated championship venues. The championship annually features many of the game’s legendary players alongside accomplished club professionals and amateurs who successfully navigate one of golf’s toughest qualifying processes.

As he prepares for his first appearance in the championship, Fribley carries not only the support of Persimmon Country Club but also the Pacific Northwest golf community, which will be cheering on one of its own when play begins at Scioto Country Club in early July.
