Future Champions Golf Tour
Washington Championship
March 18-19, 2023
🏁Final: Future Champions Golf Tour – Washington Championship from Chambers Bay in University Place, Washington. 36-hole junior championship, part of FCG’s World Series of events, featured boys and girls divisions with B.C., Idaho, Oregon and Washington all represented in the field.
Will Koch, 2022 Oregon 5A High School Golf State champion, posted a two-day total of 147, +3 for a one-stroke victory. Chambers Bay played tough in this championship, just as it did in 2022, with the 2015 U.S. Open venue measuring over 7,000 yards. Koch, who entered the final round six strokes behind the overnight leader, came out firing in the final round making an eagle on the par 5, first hole. For the tournament, the long-hitting Koch played the par 5’s at a blistering -6. In May 2022, Koch was featured on NW Golf Report’s junior golf Lesson Tee where he taught his tips for hitting the “tiger stinger”. Koch joins the Seattle University Redhawks golf team in Fall 2023.
In the girls’ division, the top PNW finishers were Amy Lee of Langley, B.C. and Ruihan Kendra Wang of Bellevue, Washington finishing in t2. Lee captured the FCG Tour’s national championship in December 2022. Wang, among the field’s youngest competitors from the high school class of 2027, will participate in the upcoming Drive, Chip and Putt National Finals at Augusta National.
