⚔️Vikings: Western Washington University Vikings in Bellingham, WA. What a week it was for the WWU golf programs. The following is a rundown of accomplishments on the links from Monday, April 18 – Friday, April 22:
-WWU men’s golf: Winners of Great Northwest Athletic Conference Championship, 10th conference title in the 14-year history of the event. Qualified for 23rd consecutive NCAA D2 Regional, enter regionals as #1 ranked team in west region.
-Aidan Thain, WWU men’s golf senior: GNAC Individual Conference Champion with a 16-stroke margin of victory, establishing WWU and GNAC scoring records with 54-hole total of 199 at Coeur d’Alene Resort.
-WWU women’s golf: Winners of Great Northwest Athletic Conference Championship. Repeat as conference champions and earn a berth to NCAA D2 Regional.
-Elise Sumner, WWU women’s golf sophomore: GNAC Individual Conference Champion. Adds to 2020-2021 GNAC Player of the Year honors.
-Tim Feenstra, WWU men’s golf alumni: WWU Athletics Hall of Famer earned a berth into the 2022 PGA Championship with a top 20 finish at the PGA Professional Championship. Feenstra was heavily featured on Golf Channel live coverage striking the event’s final putt in a playoff to advance to one of golf’s four major championships.
-Cody Roth, WWU men’s golf alumni: Earned conditional status for the 2022 PGA Tour Canada season with finish at PGA Tour Canada Q-School played at The Home Course in DuPont, WA.
-Ethan Casto, WWU men’s golf alumni: Earned conditional status for the 2022 PGA Tour Canada season with finish at PGA Tour Canada Q-School played at The Home Course in DuPont, WA.
